Ross Edwards

Drawing and painting came naturally to me and has been resonating throughout in my life. I've never been very good at speaking since childhood, which is why expressing myself in the telling stories through my paintings.

I enjoy painting historic events with people, social commentary, and paintings with truth and meaning. I learned to paint using the airbrush with acrylics on wall sized murals, one after another, for several years.  My airbrushing is more painterly for more of an expression with energy  within each piece.

My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.

Inspiration

I enjoy the act of interpreting social, historic, and truth with meaning. My designs in paintings, exhibits, galleries, and museums are wonderful  opportunities where my joy and fulfillment provide the "juice".

Techniques

Once my design is drawn on the canvas the first color filling in the overall first colors is what I refer to as blocking-in. The fun for me begins when I start painting in the details airbrushing an eighth to a quarter inch from the canvas. With one color at a time, cleaning out the airbrush, adding the next color, is the painting process.

Career Highlights

Painting murals, skyscapes, and interpretive paintings from mid 70's to present. I worked with a design build company for fifteen years where I learned museum exhibit design. Now in my own business I enjoy painting as well as museum exhibit design. The "Hunter Gatherers of the Blackland Prairie"  is my favorite museum.

This photo is part of the "Hunter Gatherers of the Blackland Prairie" museum. I was blessed with the opportunity to design front to back and top to bottom; All exhibit design, painting murals, design all graphics, and project management. I teamed with archaeologist Dr. Don Wyckoff who has extensive knowledge of the people who first lived in what is now Texas. For me, design always follows the message, and Dr. Don provided those important messages.

This photo of my paint studio, facing north, out amongst the trees is where I paint now. I just                                          walk out our back door and walk over for another adventure in painting
